Life and careerEdit

Early lifeEdit

Zig Novölark was born as Zig Osvaldöholler on 15 February 1989 in Pivot, Jurgensland. His mother, Nova, is a music teacher, while his father, Osvald, was a retired track and field star. His father left the family when Zig was two years old, and he subsequently adopted a matronymic, Novölark as his surname. He has two younger sisters Elisa and Ela. His mother remarried when Zig was twelve years old. The family was middle class.

Novölark attended primary school in Pivot, and then later went on to attend a performing arts high school, graduating in 2007. Following his graduation, he moved to Ubenmoor to pursue a music career and performed in various Ubenmoor-based folk bands.

2014–present: The X Factor: Lashardia and My TimeEdit

Novölark auditioned for The X Factor: Lashardia in summer 2014 at the Pivot auditions. He auditioned in front of the judges with the song "Work" and received four yeses, being complimented for his alternative-folk take on a Lashpop song. He performed the song "Pigeons" at the judges' house, in front of his mentor Zaras Abdulöfarwa, advancing to the Top 20.

Novölark was one of the most popular acts throughout the first season, scoring highly with the public and never ending up in the Bottom 3. On 26 March, he earned a place in the finals. The following week, he was declared the runner-up, behind winner Olga Davorcha. Despite not winning, he was still signed to Akai Music Group by his mentor Abdulöfarwa.

His winner's single "Lucky Strike" was released following the finale, and went on to chart in the Top 10 of the Lashardian singles chart. He released his debut studio album, My Time, in October 2016.

Personal lifeEdit

Novölark splits his time between Pivot and Flastland, Ubenmoor. He is a second cousin of folk pop singer Ebona Jonölark, and was the one who suggested she become a judge on The X Factor: Lashardia.
