Laila Davida Samöflent (born 16 August 1996) is a Lashardian singer and songwriter. Samöflent came to prominence after placing sixth on the first season of Lashardian Idol.
Life and career[]
Early life[]
Samöflent was born on 16 August 1996 in Dusha, Jurgensland. Her father Sam was a construction worker while her mother Alya was a makeup artist. She has two little sisters. Sam walked out on the family when Samöflent was five years old and she was subsequently raised by her mother and stepfather.
Samöflent attended primary school in Dusha where she struggled in academic subjects such as mathematics, science, and foreign language. After her graduation, she moved to Ubenmoor to find work and began working as the personal assistant to Olia Janisöpfleg. Janisöpfleg later encouraged her to pursue a career in music.
2015–2016: Lashardian Idol[]
In summer 2015, Samöflent auditioned for season one of Lashardian Idol. Janisöpfleg was present at the audition and thus Samöflent's audition was shown during the television broadcast. She received four yeses from the judges and later passed through Ubenmoor week as well.
In the semi-finals, Samöflent performed in the first group but was originally eliminated. She was brought back as one of the possible female wildcards, and was voted back into the competition by the judges. In the finals, she was consistent, placing in the bottom three only one time. She later ended up placing sixth overall.
2016–present: Breakthrough and couture.[]
Following the end of Lashardian Idol, Samöflent was revealed to have signed a recording contract with Akai Music Group. They soon began recording music for her debut album. In a summer 2016 interview, she revealed that the music was starting to sound "a bit alternative, but still mainstream enough to maintain general appeal".
In January 2017, she released her debut single "Leave Me Alone". The song became very successful, peaking at number-three in Lashardia, and also reaching the top ten in Adoriam, Pesa, Consensum, and Sodrax. The song was indie pop in style, while also containing prominent influences from indie rock, punk, grunge, and synth-driven Lashpop. Her debut studio album, couture., will be released in March 2016.
Personal life[]
Samöflent resides in the Breż district of Ubenmoor and previous resided with Olia Janisöpfleg in Hoffmann. She worked as Janisöpfleg's personal assistant from 2013 until 2016.
